AX-S4 MMS ("access for MMS") is a
complete
IEC 61850 interface for host applications. AX-S4 MMS supports both IEC
61850 client and server capabilities to provide everything needed to
interface with any Windows application supporting OPC and/or DDE
interfaces. AX-S4 MMS brings real-time data from IEC 61850,
UCA® 2.0, and MMS intelligent electronics devices (IEDs) such as
RTU, protection relays, meters, and load tap changers to the desktop.
Useful for substation automation
computers
needing access to data in IEC61850 IEDs, testing/configuration of IEC
61850 devices, and for interfacing with non-IEC 61850 devices.

- OPC Data Access Server
interface supports IEC61850, UCA2.0, and MMS variable access for Visual
Basic®, Visual C++®, and many off-the-shelf OPC compatible
applications.
- Supports
IEC 61850 parts 6-1, 7-2, 7-3, 7-4, and 8-1 including
the Abstract Communication Service Interface (ACSI), Generic Object
Oriented Substation Event (GOOSE), and Generic Substation Status Event
(GSSE) services.
- Includes
an IEC 61850 server to convert non-standard devices and protocols to
IEC 61850 for low-cost data translation and protocol conversion.
- DDE Server supports variable,
journal/log, controls, domain, file, and program
invocation services including cut-and-paste of hot-links to Excel and
other DDE enabled applications.
- Interactive MMS Object Explorer
provides point & click access to network objects without complex
configuration.
- Automatically retrieves
device object descriptions from
devices to eliminate tedious configuration of data points.
- Supports unsolicited
report-by-exception messaging using
IEC61850 and UCA2 buffered and unbuffered reports.
- OPC Server for GOOSE/GSSE is
included to send and receive
real-time
protection data used by relays and other substation protection and
metering devices.
- Supports UCA2.0 Generic
Object Model for Substation and
Feeder Equipment (GOMSFE) and Common Application Service Model (CASM)
per IEEE TR1550.
- Supports generic MMS client
functions per ISO 9506.
