SISCO's
Utility Integration Bus (UIB)
is a standards-based integration platform designed to significantly
reduce the engineering effort required to integrate data in the utility
environment. The UIB extends off-the-shelf Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
middleware with utility specific extensions for
support of distributed power system models and standards-based
interface services and application programming interfaces (API) using
XML messaging per the
IEC61970 and IEC61968 standards. The UIB
enables you to build a flexible model-driven architecture for
application integration to leverage existing power
system related application investments.

- Provides utility specific extensions to
off-the-shelf EAI middleware based on international standards.
- Provides data access across the UIB in the
context of a common information model (CIM) that eliminates application
dependencies resulting in an integration architecture that doesn't
break as changes are made.
- GDA interfaces support distibution of model
change notices across the bus enabling application adapters to
automatically detect model changes.
- Supports XML models per IEC 61970 and
IEC 61968 including full, partial, and incremental imports.
- Application adapter development is
simplified with mapping tools that provide an easy-to-use GUI for
assigning application data to common model objects.
- Supports IBM WebSphere®
and other middleware. Portable to other
platforms.
|
- Enables you to leverage your
existing investment in legacy applications by providing a mechanism for
"wrapping" the legacy applications using standardized APIs and services
based on the
Generic Interface Definition (GID) of IEC 61970 including:
- Generic Data Access (GDA) for model
access and managment.
- High-Speed Data Access (HSDA) for access
to real-time data.
- Time-Series Data Access (TSDA) for access
to historical data.
- Generic Events and Subscriptions (GES)
for publishing and subscribing to generic XML messages.
- OLE for Process control (OPC) for Data
Access (DA) and historical data access (HDA).
